Greetings in Jesus’ name! We pray that God is strengthening you by his mighty Spirit living in all who believe!
Congratulations on being accepted into The Salvation Army’s War College Chicago Southside Campus.
Based on prayer, your application, and your references, we are pleased to invite you into the 2009-2010 session of The War College- War Cry Session! Your acceptance is for the one year of post-secondary spiritual warfare studies. Be assured that we have prayed and carefully weighed our decision and are looking forward to fighting alongside you and growing in faith with you!
As the director of The War College, I am responsible for preparing you for your arrival to Chicago’s south side. This letter will answer a few questions that you may have, and also contains some important information. ACCEPTANCE OF OFFER
Please email myself, to accept, reject or defer our offer. You will want to begin fund-raising for your year here ($4,800USD). Or, let me know that you are planning the part-time option ($50/course). Non-refundable deposit of USD$500 (cheque or money order) Due August 31st, exceptions made pending circumstances
- Half of the tuition is due before or upon arrival [Sep 7/09] if a payment plan is needed [$500 USD every other month = $4,800 USD paid by Aug 1,2009]
- A criminal record check completed within three months prior to the start date, Sept 13, 2009

Following the start of the session, cancellations will incur penalties of the non-refundable deposit, plus $500/ month of studies for tuition/accommodation. Don’t forget to press in spiritually to ensure that you are prepared for training.

IMPORTANT DATES
Students can arrive on campus on September 13th, from 3 pm on. Please advise the registrar of when you will be arriving so personnel can be available to let you into your room and briefly introduce you to your surroundings.
Christmas break: begins at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, 24 December, 2008. Class resumes at 07.00 a.m. on Monday 4th January, 2009
Reading week: begins at 23.59 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010. Term 3 resumes at 07.00 a.m. on Sunday 08 March. Anyone going home during this period must clear with staff.
*Term 4 (summer placements), begins Monday, June 7th 2009.
Graduation: August 2010 (date to be announced)
ARRIVAL/ DEPARTURE by Flight or Bus
You should aim to arrive in Chicago on Saturday. We will request your arrival details and arrange to meet you at any Chicago port of entry on this day. (The closes airport to and the most economical is Midway.) Once you arrive, we’ll settle you into your accommodation and hook you up with hosts for your first few days. Between your arrival and when the session begins, your time is your own: you may join in the preparations for your year if you wish, or make your own plans – it’s your call!
If you are planning to go home during reading week or Christmas break, you will be asked to provide your own travel to and from Chicago airports/bus terminals.
PAYMENT
Your tuition fees are $4,800 US Dollars. They can be paid by check or money order payable to The Salvation Army with a note to The War College.
You are requested to pay your fees in full by the end of August 2009. If this is not possible, 50% of your fees are required by the end of August 2009. 75% is due in December 2009, and final 25% is due March 2010.
Payment is required for the completion of The War College.
Please raise any concerns over payment immediately.
Your tuition fees cover tuition and college-related activities, board and groceries.

KIT LIST
This is not an exhaustive list, but should give you a general idea of what you will need while here. You only REALLY need a Bible and toothbrush, but some of the following may come in handy…
-Notebook and other books and stationery as required
-Passport/ photo i.d.
-Clothing – A Salvation Army uniform [if you are a soldier], warm, layer-able clothing (Chicago is cold during winter) Comfortable, waterproof shoes and coats. Flip-flops/ sandals for the shower, scarf, gloves, toque/ beanie/ woolie hat, umbrellas are also helpful. You will also need clothing to participate in ‘drill’ – exercise.
-Bedding (twin)
-towel and washcloth
-Sleeping bag for trips away
-Backpack
-Water bottle
-Alarm clock
-Reading light
A note about expensive items and fancy gadgets: Though your room is secured with a lock, keep in mind that you are not living in a highly secure area. Please use your own wisdom as to whether or not you should bring these items. We cannot accept responsibility for lost or stolen items.
YOUR FIRST ASSIGNMENT
We’re praying for increased influence and opportunity to invest in people’s lives, and want to enlist your help. Your first assignment is to recruit at least one other person to join the session with you. Please communicate to me the name/s of the people that you are planning to recruit, that we might continue to pray for them, also.
